The weekend of Workshops
and socialising will be held at the Stackpole Centre.
This is owned and run by the National Trust and is located in the
countryside not far from Pembroke Castle, where the fiddle competition
is held on the evening of Sunday 4th September.
The weekend gets into gear on Friday with
a Pig Roast and a chance to relax; fiddlers meet other
fiddlers, and maybe some tunes appear!
As the centre is self-catering, we recommend that you bring light
refreshments, food enough for breakfast and maybe lunch. Local Hostelries
can provide food also and the kitchens at the Centre are fully equipped.
All linen will be provided in the centrally heated rooms and on site
parking is plentiful. There is also a swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi,
steam bath and exercise room - just in case your elbows become tired
with so much fiddling!
Saturday morning starts at 9am with registration.
There will be a number of tutors covering various aspects of Welsh
Celtic fiddle playing, techniques, bowing and tunes, and some will
give individual tuition if required. With a break for lunch, the day
will end around 5.30pm.
Confirmed Tutors are:
Siân Phillips - fiddle
Peter Cooper - fiddle (London)
Huw Williams - performance & clogging
Iolo Jones - fiddle
On Sunday - it is hoped
to hold a service in the local Church by way of blessing the Pembroke
